Hol is Surin's own cloth — the pattern this province is known by, worn to weddings, ordinations, and temple days, and read at a glance anywhere in Thailand as coming from here. Nobody dates it; the old people say it was always old. Tied bundle by bundle before the first pick is thrown.
The narrow cloth of the region, woven with the elephant figure Surin is known for. Worn over the shoulder, hung as a runner, or cut for a shirt — the width decides nothing. The figure decides everything.
